It is widely accepted that she only speaks when she has something fresh, exciting, innovative and important to say and last Sunday evening (March 20th, 2011) at the Hilda Skeene, Primary School -- was no exception. Like a magnet, the minute Mia Mottley said "good evening," she connected with the massive crowd immediately. You really could not help noticing that the extremely huge crowd (highly unusual for an ordinary Branch Meeting) was made-up of a significant number of women of all ages, even though men were well represented.

The Former Leader of the Opposition gave the huge crowd a crystal-clear view of what real, serious and innovative leadership looks like. It has not gone unnoticed that while some are alleging how great they are, Mia Mottley seems more concerned, especially in these difficult times, with how people are coping and whether they are able to keep body and soul together. Her address last Sunday was therefore "relevant and timely" and she discussed issues like Clico; human tragedy, as well as other issues, which are important to Barbadians and which they care about.

Asking the question: "how long is too long," as regards the length of time it took the government to put Clico under judicial management, Miss Mottley praised the former Head of the Oversight Committee for his outstanding service to Barbados. http://bit.ly/gyywO3
