A stolen vehicle was recovered from the Rock River early Friday morning in the Town of Koshkonong. Fort Atkinson police and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to reports of a partially submerged car in the Rock River, along Rock River Road, around 7:30 a.m. The scene of the incident was approximately one mile outside the Fort Atkinson city limits in the Town of Koshkonong. Fort Atkinson Police Lt. Jeff Davis said the vehicle, a Mercury Sable, had been reported stolen at 5:47 a.m. from a home in the 700 block of Charles Street. The license plate on the Mercury Sable, found in the river, matched that of the alleged stolen vehicle. Keys for the car were found in the ignition and the car was in drive. Davis said police are investigating the alleged theft. Anyone with any information on the alleged car theft should contact the Fort Atkinson Police Department at (920) 563-7777. To remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a reward, call the Crimestoppers tipline at (920) 563-7793 or (800) 559-3200.
