This is a small 6" Diameter ramjet engine, using the extremely high speed exhaust gas fo a pulsejet as an air source. Ramjets cant run when standing still, unless there is some outside source of high speed air. Ramjets have no moving parts and use their high forward speed to take in and compress air and burn it with fuel to create thrust.

The pulsejet engine provides an extremely large volume of high speed air to get the engine going. The ramjet is running rich because the pulsejet is on the lowest throttle setting.

  • Yea, and there are a few people going around trolling saying that they are not ramjets. To statically test a ramjet you provide it with high velocity air, and they can operate subsonic. They are ramjets wether you blow air into them at 400 mph or fly them through the air at 400 mph. This is an entirely different kind of engine setup, capable of running statically.

  • Hey Mangy thanks! The prototype worked but had a bit of problem running when the pulsejet was real low, you can see how rich it wanted to run. The new updated version has a few modifications and runs like crazy even on low throttle. Really huge improvement from such a little tweak. Probably tomorrow I will have some video of the new one running with the pulsejet maxed out and the ramjet running on liquid propane! :) It has shock diamonds in the exhaust on high and really needs a CD nozzle :D

  • Unfortunately that's no ramjet. :(

  • is the pulsejet powered ramjet more powerfull than the pulsejet on its own?i mean how many lbs thrust this thing make?

  • how many lbs thrust does this one produce?thx

  • Good idea, nice run

  • maydayfire, thats a pulsejet

  • Thats a Pulsjet Engine to drive the big Ramjet i think. A ramjet needs a high air speed to operate.

  • whats that glowy thing in the front?

  • Low throttle? What happens when you do higher throttle? Show me PLEEEEEEEEEEZE!
