@panfranek you have a point and i agree with you, though not entirely. look at it this way: some of us need to pay our bills, and advertising is what we're stuck with. and the fastest way to get a fat pay raise for those in the creative department is to win awards. even if we made multinational companies a lot of money by "wasting" our lives and making "shit", so what. we get paid, our family gets fed, products get sold, everybody's happy. well, maybe except porn addicts

That's the true value of your hard work in the advertising field. Sleeping 6 hours a day and wasting your life so that some multinational corporations can earn more money.
Cannes lions remind me of Adult Video Awards, another mutual adoration society. And those two industries have got something in common. Both think that they make incredible art, but in reality they make shit. At least porn is something people want to watch.
