This video was produced for the International Association of Chiefs of Police Convention which was held in Denver, Colorado, October 2009. We demonstrate and discuss some of the things we are doing at the Memphis Police Department's Real Time Crime Center. We are proud of what we have done so far, and plan to continue to push technology to make our citizens safer. As of this morning (12/2/2009} , crime is down over 12% year-to-date and over 17% since 2006. We look for continued reduction in crime as a result of the hard work of the men and women of the MPD.
@Lstgndm Reading license plates that are publicly displayed and cameras that video people walking around in public violates privacy law? Any random person on the street can see all of the things this technology does. Please explain.

I live in Memphis and this technology violates all types of privacy laws. They know the technology is illegal. Someome just need to challenge them. Memphians stand up.
