Rocket Belt flying over San Diego, X-Plane

The Bell Jet Pack actually carried a man under control many times on short flights - more a dare devil stunt than a ride in the park. The pilot must maintain balance every moment. And even a short fall invites serious injury. The Pack is heavy and fuel hungry. If that was not the case you might be flying around town today. The simulator recreates the manned rocket flight, lets you overcome these problems and stretch out for a high ride through San Diego.

@sangennar : It was a fun modeling project. Jet belts like this can only carry enough fuel for 30 seconds of flying but a simulator is not restricted by reality. I could not resist the fun of flying among the building in San Diego - or Bagdad.. It is a real balancing act and there is no gliding down.

The video is made of screen captures of the model man and the rocket belt. You can not influence the man in the video with a joystick. Its a motion picture slide show. He was made for and flies in the X-Plane flight simulator that also makes the scenery. X-plane models are usually airplanes flown in the computer world under control of joystick and throttle.

Gosh, the Bell Jet Belt didn't fly until 1969. This belt looks more like the Thomas Moore flying belt.
