The swept away bits and pieces of Vermont have congregated here at the buoys of Barton's Cove in Turners Falls. Covered bridges, propane tanks, plastic kiddie wading pools, picket fencing and more now bob in the river. As if the tritium escaping from the Vernon Yankee Nuclear power plant isn't bad enough......now we have to worry about other contaminants polluting the waters. It will be interesting to see how the EPA and FirstLight Power Resources (whose parent company is the foreign-owned consortium known as GDF SUEZ) will work together to clean this mess up.
