  • Thank you so much for posting this and all your other videos. It has been fantastic to watch this competition again. Will be watching the 85 Euros next. Do you have anything on the 77 & 79 European AAs?

  • i will check i may have the 79 euros....

  • I agree about the bars. The endless giants are sooooo boring. We need to write, email and petition the International Gymnastics Federation to bring back the beauty. Though they blew off the letter objecting to the insane difficulty and lack of artistry signed by many former top gymnasts like Boginskaya and Shannon Miller with a nasty crack about trying to bring back the mythical past.

  • I miss the bars closer together too! When did they do it? Between 85 and 87? Thank-you so much for this great footage. It is wonderful to see Elena in her finest hour. It is so sad what happened to her! What a tragedy!

  • Thank you for posting this! Elena was wonderful! So was Kathy Johnson!

  • elena looked so cute. especially when she waves.

  • intricate transitions?!

all everyone does these days is pak/overshoot down to low bar, half turn, some kind of shoot back to high bar.

  • I recalled that in the early 80s Yurchenko tried to have the bars set far apart so that she could do her double release move of Tkatchev/Delchev easier, but her request was not met until she retired from her world competitive days.

  • I believe with the intricate transitions, encouraged stalder-pirouetting skills, uneven bars is appearing more and more similar to bars performed in the 70s. In my opinion, uneven bars was a total bore, between 1989 and 1992, with few exceptions. I am enjoying routines since 2004 with renewed interest, as they are more innovative, much like the 70s.

  • oh! mukhina was so great! thank you for posting this, is amazing! =)
