Trapped - Eight*

My eyes narrowed in a squint as I peered out into the dark room. "What do you mean?" I called out then the lights on the ceiling lit up cautiously. I raised my eyes towards the bright lights and then they trailed back down to meet the glowing blue eyes that belonged to Logan. "What are you doing here?" I frowned.

"You should be more worried as to how you're going to get the footage of the security cameras." Logan shook his head, placing his hands on his hips. "That little visit you did to that lady's office, did you even think it through? Did you really think they wouldn't find out?"

"I'm sorry..." I apologized slowly. I lowered my gaze down to my feet, taking a breath before finally meeting his flaring blue orbs. "I was desperate to find a way out, okay? I'm sorry"

Logan took a step back as he reached behind a long pipe and pulled out a small round object. "Well then you're lucky I took this and edited the video before they found it." I frowned, my eyebrows coming as one as I looked at the DVD in his hand curiously. '"You're welcome," He raised his eyebrows as he flashed an impressive smirk on his lips.

"So, you gave me all that crap so you could get the satisfaction of my mistake." I flatly said, only to receive a shrug. "Well great, I was wrong okay."

He let a small laugh out as he snapped the DVD in half and then tossed it to the side. "That's not why I brought you here." He stuck his hands in the pockets of his white pants. "What's going on with my sister?" He paused "I saw the way you two looked at each other, and I think you know what's wrong with her."

I inhaled the musty air, and I crossed my arms across my chest. "Look, I get how worried you must be but can't you ask her?"

"I already tried ... she won't tell me anything. Please, you're my dead end here." Logan said softly, his eyes pleading me to confide in him. "I just need to know. It had something to do with that Brenda girl, am I right?"

I took my lower lip between my teeth, considering ... "I-I ... I'm really sorry. You have to ask her." He nodded, understandingly.

"Just tell me one thing." His eyes met mine again, his blue ones bounced back and forth between my dark brown ones as if he were searching for the answers to his questions. "What happened to Brenda? You and I both know she didn't get assigned a new job, I could tell just by the look on your face when that kid asked you."

I felt my lips separate, as I gaped at him while my eyes widened. "I thought I pretty much nailed that performance."

He chuckled, showing off his perfectly set of dimples and shook his head "Oh, it was a great one actually but I'm just too good to fool."

Automatically my eyebrow rose, questioningly and I rolled my eyes "Right, what are you now a human lie detector? Here I thought you were just a concerned older brother. "

"There's a lot you don't know about me," Logan shrugged, then his eyes "Seriously though, what happened to her?"

"She's dead," I blankly stated and watched him as a questioning gaze formed along his features.

"Who were those other people they were loading off earlier?" Steven's deep brown eyes bounced from mine to Lucy's. We had been sitting in the white room for what seemed forever in silence, until Steven broke it with his questions.

Lucy shrugged her eyes pierced straight into his eyes, begging him to shut up so the others wouldn't find out. "We don't know, Steven."

I leaned back beside Nina, while she gazed off into space. In her lost gaze, I saw what we all were thinking but never said; we were slowly losing hope in our freedom.
