When Charlie Crews went to prison for 12 years, for a crime he did not commit, his goal upon release was to discover who did commit the crimes for which he was sent to prison, on the TV Series Life. theres a lot of similarities between hollis and crews. They look a great deal alike as well as the way hollis turned to god like charlie found enlightenment.

That gun is a symbol for the life that was stripped from him.
