Birthday of filmmaker and writer Mr Mohsen Makhmalbaf 29 May 2011

Today may 29, is the birthday of acclaimed influential Iranian filmmaker and writer Mr. Mohsen Makhmalbaf. Born in 1957 in Tehran. He has directed feature and short films and documentaries in Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan, Tajikistan and India. Among his many award-winning works is the 2001 film "Kandahar". Which garnered the Federico Fellini, Gold Medal of United nations Educational Scientific, and cultural organisation.
Kandahar was also listed by Time Magazine as one of the All-Time 100 best movies. In addition Mr. Makhmalbaf has been involved in over 80 human rights projects.
They include building schools in Herat and Zarang, Afghanistan and helping to establish Afghan cinema.
