No, in this video I have them set to a "Defensive" mode. They tend to hang back a bit & wait for someone to try and flank me.
My dwarf is a pretty mean tank, so I like to let him absorb all the damage. ;)

Going back and looking at it, it looks like they were torn between the guy attacking them, and guarding me from the guy attacking my main character. :P But no, that isn't normal.
