Early this summer (2010) the American Marine Group (AMG) was awarded a contract to their largest and most challenging project to date. A US Navy destroyer "USS Arthur W. Radford" which is destined to become the largest ship ever to be sunk along the US Atlantic coast, as an artificial reef. These ships provide the perfect structure to promote marine growth creating ecosystems where none existed before. AMG has been sensitive to both the ecology and the economics of seeing these projects to fruition and have placed more artificial reef material on the ocean floor than any other marine contractor. I've been documenting this process since they took possession. This is an on going project that will follow this and other vessels from shipyard to sand bar and beyond.
There are some great sinking vids out now. Checked your site for your sinking vids. When do you think you'll have the video ready? Really looking forward to it.

will there be video of the sinking when they finally do it? I'm a Maryland diver and heard it was supposed to be sometime this week maybe?

I have a question.
Is it true there was a 1st class petty officer arrested as the ship was being decommissoned or before decom for soliciting a 14 year old girl on the internet?
Was he arrested by the FBI or something like that, and if that is true,is there a video of it that I can see?

Love what they are doing with the AWR. Better than just a missile sponge in some test. Hope to dive my old ship someday.
