1:56 omg that was an incredibly hard hit
-
I saw from Angle 2 after the impact Gordon's arms and remaining head flailing out. R.I.P Gordon Smiley.
-
bad sound and dull color
-
@weallfollowmanutd With today's car technology and the so-called "Safer" barrier, I think Smiley would have survived.
He might have never have been able to drive a race car again, but he would have lived.
It appears that his bo9dy was dismembered during the crash.

I hate to point it out because I feel sick to see it, but if you pause it at 1:50 you can see Gordon's head and the chunk that the fence took out of it. :( Buddha bless you Gordon. I am so sorry for you and your family. Rest In Peace. :)

u can see his helmet fly off from the impact
-
@tmwnat If you missed the point by any farther you'd hit yourself in the butt.
-
@tmwnat Not really, IndyCars have always been quicker than stock cars when on the same track.
-
do you happen to have the entire video of the time trials that day?
-
@sonshinesport Actually, if I remember, he was driving a 81 model March. It looked like an 81 on the video but I can't tell for sure.
It's strange to think that there was a time when Gordon Smiley had been alive just a few hours ago. The people we see in the video knew him as a race driver and a friend, and today we only remember the last instant of his life. What a sad fate. RIP

that wreck is so hard, that even with the SAFER barrier, driver would still be dead, head-on at 210 mph, theres no chance
