thanks for posting this...its wonderful and also its about time to show the capabilities of the tombak...very much enjoyed it...this helps also to show the world of the best percussion instruments of Persia... and of course ostad Rajabi is one of the best, may he live a long life...

This was performed by the Melal Orchestra (Nations Orchestra) in Tehran, Iran. Musicians face a great deal of difficulties in Iran due to suppressive policies and measures by the government. This makes efforts and performances such as this one even more valuable and noteworthy.

The solo Tombak at the begining is reading Saba's song "Dar Ghafas." I was surprized when the orchestra played mozart with it. I think tombak added a new and yet pleasant flavor into it. I don't dear Tar and other persian instruments though.
