  • I was stationed at Ft Campbell ky.Went down to see Fly at Austin Peay play Madisonville.Fly was bigger than life.Reminded me of Dr J.Somehow they lost that night Madisonville had no frills just solid basketball.I saw Fly punch the trophy case at the loss.He did have a temper. But he was a legend while I was stationed at Ft Campbell 1972-74.I have fond memories of Clarksville Tenn.I would have been proud to graduate from that school.Home of Wilma Rudolph.

  • For what it's worth, Fly Williams was voted the GREATEST PLAYGROUND LEGEND OF ALL TIME {G.O.A.T} by one of the big three sneaker companies but I forgot which one, and he has his own sneaker line......

  • I went to see him play in the ABA at St. Louis with the Spirits. He had gotten into a bad drug habit at the time and was missing a lot of games. (At least that was always the rumor.) He only averaged around 10PPG that one year he played, but every once in a while he'd still put on a show. When he was 'on' he was as good as it gets.

  • "and was the public address announcer for Peay basketball at the Little Red Barn both years Fly was there"

    ### hahaha, nice try, I WAS THE ONE who was the public adress announcer, liar...

  • Yeah, the best one from Brooklyn in the

    70's

  • tournament is over my mans. but u can google the brownsville recreational center and get a number. its in brooklyn

  • What is the phone number to the tournament?

  • Any films of this phenom?

  • I went to Austin Peay 1968-74 and was the public address announcer for Peay basketball at the Little Red Barn both years Fly was there. As a person and as a player, Fly can only be described as "out of this world". Amazing man now. Amazing kid then. I still remember the beauty of the stutter move, and all of the "Fly Swatters" waving in opposing gyms. I treasure those memories and congratulate Fly on the retirement of #35 this year. As we chanted then: "The Fly is open. Let's go Peay!"

  • yo Fly lives not far from me. His son sly played football and basketball agnst my high school. Neddless to say we lost in both.
