  • Snap Snap Snappy, with almost no real focus on technique.

  • So is Shorin Ryu more of a trunk with 4 branches?

Which of the 4 am I looking at when I see it done with almost no hip rotation?

  • @ptboyindenver

    Matsubayashi Ryu is Shorin Ryu!

  • @ptbiyindenver Matsubayashi is one of the four original styles of Shorin Ryu along with Matsumura Seito, Shobayashi and Kobayashi. So it is Shorin Ryu

  • Nice. I've been trying for the longest time to get this kata done right, maybe one day it will come.

  • Great technique and intensity

  • @NONAG0N this one is very good indeed but can I suggest the master Shinzato one? chek it out.

  • Good lord, people, look at the title! This is not Shorin Ryu, it's Matsubahashi Ryu. They use these exaggerated hip movements on purpose to produce a surprisingly powerful whip-like action. AFAIK, in Shorin Ryu this would be considered extremely incorrect.

I do shotokan and have been recently applying these movements to Tekki in my own private training. I wouldn't do it in front of a Shotokan master, but the insight gained has most certainly made my technique better

  • absolutely perfectly well done.
