Ccino is a 16yr old Birman cat that belongs to my parents. I spent a few weeks "babysitting" him recently and this was his first chance to explore my new partially completed backyard landscaping / garden.

At around 2:20 he finishes exploring and certainly lets me know he'd now like to do something else by using his rather loud meow.

update 22/9/2010, Ccino celebrated his 17th birthday this week :-)

update 22/3/2011, I now have a ragdoll cat, you can see one of her first visits into the garden using http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUsGYEaeh7o

  • I have a 3 and a half yr old male who looks just like chino only not as dark due to his youth. Man his vocalisation is crazy! Not a day goes by where he doesn't scream the house down! Is Chino still alive? Did he always go out in the garden? Mine always cries to go out but he has no street smarts :S

  • @Dreycho

Chino is still going strong, he's now over 18yrs old.

He's always enjoyed being outside, and he loves going for walks every morning. When outside he's always supervised.

  • What a wonderful age for a pedigreed Birman. He looks like he's had a good life too. The garden looks great too - did you build it?

  • @1951humber

Garden was constructed by professional landscapers.

  • I love Birmans. Absolutely love them! Awsome cats. I also like Burmese, they have great personalities and some cool traits. But Birmans i love the look of.

Chino is purebred, his parents have produced many show winning cats. As he's got older he's got louder and more demanding. When he starts his 'demands' in the movie he was saying "I've looked enough, now put me on the ground", and when I stay behind the camera without saying anything that annoyed him! Notice his ear movement at 3:00 when passes me, a non verbal sign of disapproval for not picking him up.

  • @PoathJunction Well done Chino, hope he has more years to come. Yes I am considering taking mine for walks when I move to a better area. He wears a lead and harness no problem but I let him roam free in the garden under supervision. But he eventually wants to explore further afield with dogs, cars, other cats and foxes near by.

  • Woow 16!! (: Older than me :D

My cat died at 14 in September 2011, he was a couple months older than me, bless his soul.

  • Wow! Your Birman is very talkative! I hardly ever heard my birman talk at all!

  • I think now that you have let your baby in this garden, you may want to change the title of this video to "His garden"

  • i think i have a birman it looks like that but really fluffy

  • Nice garden.
