I recently put a Weber 36 Carb on my YJ 4.2 258. It runs great but there are a few issues with it.

First of all idle: Idle does not seem to keep steady its constantly fluctuating and sometimes will stall. This is even after adjusting the idle speed screw to about 900 RPM.

Second is the High Idle: Ocasionally while driving, the engine will get stuck at 2000 RPM or 1500 RPM or 3000 RPM. I pull over and look under the hood during this time and noting seems to be effecting the linkage. If I rev up quickly it usually goes away or if I go under the hood it seems like the linkage to the carb is stuck, but it doesn't seem like its stuck to anything.

Other then that the performance is great.

  • oh ok well i had trouble with my weber stickin and i soaked the linkage w wd40 and its been good ever since but you prolly got it all fixed now

  • Actually I took a spring i found from autozone and hooked it over the linkage to something else so it works out because the pedal feels more solid now.

  • the cvaccum hose from ur breather on to of ur valve cover needs to connect to ur airfilter housing instead of on the bottom portion of ur carb

  • It looks like its going to the bottom of the carb but it is actually going down and then back up straight into the Air Filter Housing. There is a connection under neath the house because the element comes off from the top. Thanks for noticing that.

  • maybe I need to install a fuel regulator ? some body help me

  • yes you need to install a fuel reg and drop it down below 4 psi when i am not running high rpms its running down around 2.5-3psi

  • 3.5 psi settings on a holley 12-804 fuel pressure regulator and it should be much better mine had the same issue.

  • your line from your pvc should not be goint strait to your adaptor plate .hav it running o your charcole cannister and have the line T'd into the adaptor plate

  • I upgraded to the weber carb as well, I had to get my floats adjusted and it rejetted because they were sea level jets and i live over a mile above sea level.

  • @johnnyreepsville

Wrong Carb. 36/36 Weber dosnt Work perfekt.

I have Weber 32/36 Inside, Modify Idle Jet of 135, and Run perfekt in idle, Warm and have Perfomance.

    Run in Austria.
