Probably. Singing with Bohm is very different from singing with Mackerras, and those are only two of the many. I agree with you that she is the best Countess, achieving something very special with the role - but the only one allowed to sing it?? Have you heard Price (Margaret, not Leontyne), Vaness, Grummer, Schwarzkopf, Jurinac? All give fabulous readings of this aria, even if they did not achieve the same association with the role Kiri did.

Shes the greatest, I dont think anyone else should be allowed to do this one. I also really enjoy hearing her different readings over the years, which I guess is her adapting to the different conductors? I don't know, but its always brilliant. Thanks for this.
