Revealing Queen Ahmose-Nefertari (Photoshop Reconstruction)

The first Queen to hold the office of "God's Wife of Amun", Ahmose-Nefertari was both the sister and wife of King Ahmose (yes, they inbred quite a bit under the mistaken belief that it kept the royal bloodlines "pure") who founded the Eighteenth dynasty of ancient Egypt.

One of the most esteemed women of her time, this "Great Royal Wife and Ruler" was the famous mother of King Amenhotep I as well as the grandmother of Tuthmosis I.

Queen Ahmose-Nefertari is regularly depicted with dark brown to tar black skin, which can variously mean that there could have been predominant Nubian ancestry in her family tree as well as the possibility (in the instances of the use of black paint for her skin) of her also representing the traditional Egyptian symbol of fertility as well as recognizing her rule over "The Black Land" so named for the rich black Nile silt on the riverbanks.

(Before we get carried away with skin color arguments, keep in mind that Osiris, The God of the Afterlife, was frequently depicted with GREEN skin...which does not automatically mean he came from a race of green people. M'kay?)
