  • Attention: Elizabeth Tjader

I am just a music teacher/musician down here in Miami and I am a total fan of your father's work. They still have not given him enough credit for being a Latin jazz pioneer in this country.

I have been searching all over for a fine video of your father and his group playing in some kind of live performance preferably so that I can show the students in my Jazz Music Appreciation classes down here in Miami. I loved all your father's groups (especially the last two)

  • He won't be played on "smooth" stations because he is the real deal, you dick.

  • Hey Zenbooter,

Thanks for the sincere words. You made my night! From Swedish origin, my dad would have loved your "light of the Latino". Thanks.

  • @eatjader- the light of the Latino will never die, it thrives,it thrives

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Esto me hace pensar en el amor a la vida!

  • In answer to the question asked by waziojan: the place that you were thinking about was not called "tjaders", rather it was popularly known as "El Matador" on Columbus Street.

  • The wise see knowledge and action as one: They see truly, take either path, and tread it to the end: The end is the same. There the followers of action, meet the seekers after knowledge, in equal freedom.

  • Pure Cal,thanks for posting.

  • Oh yes We love Cal! He is a giant in the realm of Mongo and Cachao for making and advancing Latin Jazz and the entire Jazz genre. Many of the best of the best consider him one of their favorites! He deserves more recognition.

  • On Monday I am sharing some of this superb "cool" west coast jazz of my day with my students at San Diego City College. It is not a music class, but music bridges any generational gap and I know that we will all find common ground. Thank you for posting!
