Try driving 70 MPH in the fog and see if you can avoid hitting a deer painted white in the middle of the road. Even if you know it's there, you're still surprised when it finally appears in front of you out of the fog.

@Sacriphyx White snow, white fog, traveling fast and trying to decide when to come out of "glide" position and get ready for landing. "Glide" makes you go further (I've heard) so skiers try to hold it as long as possible.
Without being able to see the landing area from far enough away, you get surprised by it and aren't ready for landing yet.

For people looking from a distance it looks impossible to see anything, but for the actual jumpers it shouldn't be too much a problem.

I'm 14 and a skijumper, and crashes like that around 85 times.
But ever jumepd in a fog? It's shitty thing to deal with in that sized hill. 1 wrong move and your demolished.
