I LOVE THE TEAR SCENE!

@JeffWithAnF The quality of the show had much to do with Pasdar's performance. He's a great actor, perfectly suited for the role. Great actor, too bad he's so underemployed on TV and cinema.

@gardgia You make perfect sense. Looks like I'm too weak to see the way Profit does. And yes, definitely you can see where Dexter got it's origins from. Funny though, Dexter is based on a novel. I guess the author used to watch Profit.

@devoutxcynic I think the funky music and the obvious bricks that they are using as cell phones are the only give away that this was made in the 90's.
To be honest this is my least favorite scene in the show. One would think Jim would rather take his time with his father after what he did to him. But a las it was the Pilot and they needed to get peoples attention.

@SchizoKnight12 That's exactly what I thought of the series. I always wondered how a confrontation between Jared and Jim Profit would play out.

Best series ever on television! Adrian Pasdar was outstanding as Jim Profit.

@JeffWithAnF I respect your vision of the character, but I think you're wrong. Profit doesn't mean to make suffer anyone if there's no use in it. "Revenge is pointless, it's a tool for the weak", as he said to Gail in Chinese Box. He kills him because he has to, or he might be uncovered.
About the scene, I think it's maybe the best one of the series, especially when Profit looks at the only tear he inadvertently dropped. He seems to wonder "what's that?". Profit was Dexter's prototype.
