(Introduction)
The Evening Star is shining bright
So make a wish, and hold on tight
There's magic in the air tonight

And anything can happen...

(First verse)
In the southland, theres a city
Way down on the river
Where the women are very pretty
And all the men deliver.

Theyve got music, its always playin.
Starts in the daytime, goes on through the night.
When you hear that music playin,
Hear what Im sayin, it makes you feel alright.

(Chorus)
Grab somebody, come on down.
Bring your paintbrush, we paintin the town.
Theres some sweetness goin round,
Catch it down in New Orleans.

(Second verse)
Theyve got magic, good and bad
Makes you happy or make you real sad.
Get everything you want or lose what you had
Down here in New Orleans.

(Chorus)
Hey partner, dont be shy.
Come on down, give us a try
You want to do some livin before you die?
Do it down in New Orleans.

(Third verse)
Shotgun shacks and mansions,
sugar barons and cotton kings.
Rich people, poor people, they all got dreams.
And dreams do come true in New Orleans.

  • Thumbs up if you think PATF should've beaten UP!

  • You know I really truly think Princess and the frog deserved to win for best animation. Yeah UP was impressive an all, but really it didn't really do it for me except for like the first ten minutes then the part where the dog came in. I also hate that some people bitch about there not being a love duet between T/N, I would have been satified with them singing the end together. They really didn't need "A whole new world." PATF was quite the unique princess movie, plus LOVE the jazz!

  • @slashermaster28 I see what you're saying with the subtlety, but we have to remember, it's a kid's movie, and not all kids can pick up on the message as fast as us older viewers. Cinderella wasn't subtle about being perfect and what a perfect lady should be, Mulan wasn't subtle about being a strong woman and doing whatever you can for your family. TPATF is what we crave from Disney; it's a revival to the old, whereas UP is what we expect from PIXAR. It isn't as exciting, because it's not new.

  • great movie!

  • I have to disagree with those who say this should have beaten UP. I love both films, but where I feel TPATF suffers is not only its lack of subtlety (Yes, Tiana, we get it, you're a role model! Stop rubbing it in our faces!) but that it had so much story that I don't feel it had enough time to completely flesh it all out. Even Tiana and Naveen's development doesn't feel completely natural to me.

  • PATF really should have beaten UP. It's one of my favorite Disney movies ever!

  • I thought Up was a very very good movie, but Princess And The Frog was really the better of the two and should have won the Oscar. No offense, Up fans, that was a great movie too. :)

  • @IWillRunAlways same

  • i love this movie and it struck home because i was born and raised in new orleans. even after the hurricane we stayed close. we're in a city 3 hours outside of new orleans.

it's a unique movie and puts a new spin on a classic fairy tale noone has ever animated before

  • @Tizzagask i loved it!

  • i heard a lot of people did not like this movie.

  • @ITzHaZzA666 First Sentence = Win
