This is also known as the "Lonely Man" theme (Joe Harnell). I've always thought this is one of the saddest pieces I've ever heard, and it is after all, in the key of D-minor--the "saddest of all keys." What I did here was try to capture the essence of this piece, since I've heard it played different ways by the composer himself. There is a bit of an inside joke embedded here. If you don't get the joke but want in on it, e-mail me. :)
Well done. Even the liberties you took from the original compositon were in good taste, and in perfect keeping with the somber feel this piece was designed to convey.

Very nicely played version of this sadest of songs. Loved the ending.

Nice performance and improv, and you even played the Universal sound at the end! How did you get such a nice, clean sound out of an acoustic piano? It doesn't sound like a home recording at all. You must have an excellent microphone. Your performance is more complete and interesting than mine, I think.
