  • are they all supposed to have the same ratio?

  • @nolliesnaz - No. they must use a fixed-gear track bicycle, but choice of ratio is up to the rider. Some people are better spinners, some people like to push a bigger gear. Each rider has to find what works for them. But all things being equal, in a two or three-up sprint a smaller gear ratio is an advantage in that it allows you to accelerate more quickly. Bigger gears work better in time trials.

  • The guy in blue dropped anchor without even attempting anything. Heck, you might as well try S-O-M-E-thing, A-N-Y-thing rather than just disappear off the back. Make a go of it; it'll only make you faster.
