continuum gameplay movie 1 (NES style action RPG)

This is a project in Game Maker I've been working on for quite a while now. I feel I'm far enough long that I can post a gameplay demo at this point. The game stars tech geek Don Fontenarial and pits him against the insane Doctor Leroy Blue. Obviously, the style of the game is designed to mimic the classic visuals and sound of the NES.

I designed all the graphics in MS paint and composed the music using a vst called magical8bitplug. It's harder than it sounds because you only can use 3 colors per a sprite (though I cheated on Don and used 4) and have only two square waves and a triangle wave for sound. It's fun though, and it really feels to me like a long lost 8 bit game from either the NES or Master System.
