Well im not making any real sence so im going to actually drop my argument. Not that it really proves im right but your an idiot. You looked up on an unnamed site and quoted some guy whos name we will never know. I quoted wiki which has source info about the def. of warning shot.
Hey how about we use the actual def or warning shot -A warning shot (in nautical terms, often called a shot across the bow) is a harmless artillery shot or gunshot intended to call attention and demand some action.
This is a military term that was meant to warn enemy forces that your side would shoot to kill if needed.
I would like to point out the "Up in the Air shot" is false. Tested by scientests [in labs] proved a bullet falling will not have enough velocity to penetrate the skull.
I say if any armed person is coming at you, shoot and keep shooting till they can't shoot. But that's just me. But I think good knowledge of gun safety, use, maintenance, and general knowledge of how your particular gun works is necessary. No one wants to hear any of those "I didn't think it was loaded" stories. The point is to check if it's loaded in the first place.
From what you described of the situation to me offline, it sounds like jezuzfreek was overreacting if he feared that gun control advocates would use this shooting to take away all guns. Most moderates just want reasonable restrictions on them. 2nd Amendment = "A well-regulated militia being necessary" etc. Notice the word REGULATED. That should mean that govt can limit it, not that ppl can keep arms unconditionally.
In true geek fashion, I tried to explain to Melinda the ethics of quick-draw and self-defense in terms of when Han Solo shot first in Star Wars, and why he was justified.
Hello Mel, If you have a firearm for self defense then you must be prepared and trained to use it to defend your life if threatened. If people do not want to do this then they should not be armed. It is a personal choice...or you could politely ask the criminal not to kill or hurt you...regards...
