Do we see Sun Dogs and Rainbows because of the arc shape of our pupil or lens of the eyes or because of the sphere shape of our planet (Though I doubt our visual sky is arc that much of a degree) or why? I ask because more and more people are video taping what looks like something popping out of the back of the sun. I don't want to be sidetracked. Maybe they're filmed all the time but it's a trend now. or is it that twin earth you always heard about we can never see :P

Man, you get a view like this from your back porch? Some people get all the luck.

@Climiest Cool, its an awesome video.
the blip was frustrating, I kept rewinding and wast forwarding and pausing trying to catch it, but couldnt.
It almost looked like carl sagan's symbol for our communication device.
whats the squares at the top of the screen at 1:03 to 1:04 ?

@TOPHERHARPER I think it was just a bit of the previously recorded material causing a "blip" in this recording. I was using a miniDV tape, and had taped over something in order to shoot this.

@dimmub69 Check out wikipedia for a pretty good explanation. Just search for sun dog. I wasn't able to include the link in this reply.

its beautiful yes, but unfortunately it looks more like to me, that its thelight from the sun reflecting off the windows into the lens.

@ddlg4you I can see how you could have come to that conclusion. However, I can assure you that I was outside, standing on my back porch when I shot this. There was no window to look through. I guess the only "evidence" of this being shot outdoors is the sound of the snowmobile that passes by. I hope you get to see sun dogs in real life some day. Thanks for the critique. I have another sun dog video, too.
