This isn't the real deal .. if you want to see the real one. they can be found on youtube too .. on the side balk of this video there is a vid called uploaded by AZER1FIGHTER, which has a authentic mehteran. The clothing etc. are much more authentic. This mehteran can't even keep the harmony in their music and their clothing looks like it was from a cheap theater. Unfortunately this is the case with most non pro mehterans.

@3choBlaster What real deal? For years the Mehteran was forbidden, like the Whirling of the Derwishes. Now musicians from the conservatory put on a moustache and theatric cloths to perform. There is no Ottoman Army nor Mehteran... but there are people performing Mehteran as we think it was in Ottoman times.

@mokumtv That said, they are state mehterans but of course they do not play marches for soldiers anymore lol .. Mehterans weren't forbidden, religious institutions/tarikats were forbidden. Mehterans were neglected till 20/30 years ago. But there still are government mehter bands who preform for certain ceremonies, special days etc. Even the military uses them, (when celebrating the anniversary of the Turkish army for example)

@mokumtv Check your sources again, there are OFFICIAL state mehterans in Turkey. Who are trained professionals, with authentic clothing.
