i really dont care which one is stronger, every time i watch something like this its always the lion or tiger is stronger, no one can really tell which is stronger until they have a proper fight and that would be to fight to the death, and what people don't seem to understand they all have different strength and weaknesses, even thought the lion is backing up doesen't mean he's running away and a tiger couldn't kill a lion pride as, lions will be biting at the tigers behind and face

@Dracorientalis , i also study the felines, and i now this: in Gir forest sanctuary, Gujarat, there are the last lions of India. In this park there aren't tigers because tigers were extirpated by lions.

A clarification: The lions of India are smaller than africans and they don't live in prides, only 2-3 lionesses with cubs, and the male is nomad. A tiger can't kill a lion pride.

Lions have weaker back hip joints. Are bulkier and heavier in terms of fur. Are lighter in terms of muscle. The bite force of a Lion was 600 lbs. max that was ever recorded. Only the Lioness (female) is capable of hunting effectively {most males without a pride starve}. They Tiger is more Agile. Quicker in short distant faster over longer distants. Adapted to a harsher enviroment. Is longer in size. And has a bit force of over a 1000 lbs, only beaten by the Tigon (male, female lion crossbread).

@Leodelli is this your opinion or do you know this for fact.. I studied them for a bit in college. and my girlfriend now studyies them as is she training to be a veterinarian nurse. One case that keeps coming up in her animal behavior classes she telss be is one envolves a single tiger killing a pride of lions except for one lioness (female) the youngest out of the pride. The tiger is the most powerful cat on our planet.

Tigers can kill bears, lions kan kill tigers, bears can kill lions: the lion is better equiped against other felines, but bear is stronger; a tiger is agile and can kill a bear with his speed, attacking from behind, but if the bear charge, the tiger will run.

@Leodelli Lions are not stronger than tigers. Tigers are heavier AND stronger, but the lion is not in much danger of a tiger attack, due to their thick mane protecting their throat and the sides of their neck. Unless the tiger can get to their belly, they should be fine. And for the record, tigers kill and eat bears.
