i really wanted my great grandparents 1890's seth thomas 8 day mantle clock. boy you wind that clock and it had a deep chime and a loud tic tock! i loved it! but it went to other relitives and i respected that decision as it is being well taken care of and enjoyed!
i use all my antiques! but first i give them a good look through! i use the original cloth cords as long as they are in good shape and have no bare spots. and i dont use fuses. but i know what im doing. most people should use them!

I had to rewire it eneyway but if you want you can make a dongle with a fuse that you plug the clock into then the cord is protected also but if one of the coils in yours gos bad it can start a fire have you ever seen a ballast in a florescent fixture go the same thing happend to the clock that I got the motor from

The chimes sound awfully deep for a mantel clock.

the camera mic is so sensitive that everything distorts [clips] the clock is loud so I will place a peace of felt over the chime rods to soften it .
The room has now a grandfather clock , that is why this one was left not working for so long .

Did you take the chimes from the grandfather clock and put them into this one? Also, could you make us a video of the grandfather clock when you get a chance?
