Steve, Thanks for the vid. The Ted Reed syncopation book is a staple for my students, and I take them through it until it is completely worn out. I STILL use it myself when I want to check my chops and I have modified several of the pieces as well to present more of a challenge to some of my more advanced students. I shot your vid links to some of my students as a review so they can work at home as well. Enjoyed it, and thanks!

@stephengoold Ah cool, great lesson btw

Thx for the lessons Mike, I'm glad I already had my copy at hand :) I really like the way you went from Quarters, to Eights, and skipped at those 16ths and Triplets and instead went to the Syncopations, great approach. A very good gateway lesson for beginner-intermediate players. You should check the book The New Breed written by Gary Chester. It is the best Independence book I have ever read, and it is really good for players who have mastered Ted Reed's book.
I love your snare sound, how do you get it?

hey there...
that snare sound is mainly from the drum itself. acrylic shells have a fat punchy vibe, and that combined with the deep dimension just makes that drum really cool sounding. I tune it fairly low to accomadate the overall tone of the drum.
