  • @howiesscammell i have seen your scammell on flicker looks good,wish mine was as good.i have a old dash from a mk2 but it is damaged most of the bits you see are from my one that need to go back on ,i need a fair few bits for mine steering ball joints ,headlights,bumper etc.

  • Nice to see the old girl still in one piece, I worked for Arlington motors, in Willesden, London, in the late 70's, and have many happy memories working on these.Probably the best 8 legger about then.

  • hi ricandlou thank`s for your comment this routeman was bought from arlington motors in brentfield rd ,it was new in 1978 only done 167000 k`s been parked over 25 years and 1 owner my dad .

  • Lovely Truck, please restore it and drive it into a dry place, the wetness let the brakes, the airlines and all hydraulics rust away quite fast...very hard to get any parts

  • I think one of the vauxhall cars used the same headlights, viva or victor or something, might be worth looking into if you still need some lights.

  • Good grief! in 1978 I was a chargehand at Arlington motors in brentfield road. The fitters were split up into 3 sections, each with a chargehand. My section did no end of work on scammells, mostly the routeman. We sold no end of them, they were excellant tipper chassis. Loads of Irish contractors had them, they used to say they were for "Muck away" I hope you don't scrap the old girl.
