Here is the Northumbria University posse's attempt at making a film for the 48 Hour Film Project in Newcastle Upon Tyne... The brief of the competition was to create a film from scratch in the timeframe of 48 hours, and yes, that is writing, filming AND editing.
Each team got a genre picked at random from a hat. Our genre was THRILLER/SUSPENSE.
Every team had to incorporate three more things however; a character with an occupation, a prop, and a specific line of dialogue...
Pat Dobson - An Arborist.
A mirror.
"I can see it in your face."
We also had to include a landmark of the North Easrt of England, hence to random camera movement towards St. James' Park!
Needless to say, it has it's issues (you try making a thriller about an arborist!) but we're proud of it!
We won two awards at the regional screening...
*Best use of Line of Dialogue*
*Best Cinematography*
*Special mention for best actress*
The cast and crew involved were as follows (The roles of the crew were pretty erratically organised as to the nature of making a film in 48 hours!)
Girl - BETHAN LUCAS
Pat Dobson - MICHAEL BYRNE
My role (ANDREW BINNS) was Director of Photography, along with ADAM GILROY for the most part.
Sound - JACK BEATTIE
Musical Score - DAN MAJOR
Editor (and winner of the man with the least amount of sleep over the entire weekend - 2 hours) - ADAM GILROY
As for writing, producing, directing, camera assistants, tireless working etc, these roles were shared between the following people...
ANDREW EDWARDS, CHRIS ANDREW, DAN MAJOR, JAKE WHITE, JORDAN CLARKE, DREW MASTROMARTINO, CALLUM HOGG.
Other notable helpers and runners were...
JAMIE HOGG, BEN GOODALL
I can see that you guys put a lot of effort into this, and the tension's there for the most part. The opening shot is dodgy (difficult doing pan/tilts). The cinematography over-all is great, though, my favourite being the deep shot at 1:35. I really liked the tense rythm of the music, up until 2:45, where it seems to chnge in tone, and become that of a cheap 80s horror film. The dialogue's clear, but the sound is mono, making it sound thin. Finally, and sadly, the director says "cut" at 0:58.

@lukepietnik haha cheers for the feedback luke, but please remember for the stuff uve picked up on... it was done in 2 days! and we certainly struggled to get any kind of story together with a thriller about an arborist. the tilt was to accomodate the landmark that had to be included as part of the brief. as for the music, it was a bunch of tracks one of the crew made without seeing any kind of edit, trying to blindly hit the themes.

@binsy89 Oh I know, Chris gave me the lowdown. I just didn't have the space in that comment box to put that down, lol. I know it was a bloody quick turnaround, and you guys did a brilliant job considering that, I was just being constructively critical.

@lukepietnik cool cool, sorry if i sounded a bit rude there! i always appreciate the comments.
to me, this film is bloody hilarious... Pat Dobson's limp a 2:52! We all cracked up laughing when we saw that for the first time.
