I have a question off topic of the Masters Women 8+, my Junior Men 4+ are holding 35-40 rate every regatta. I find that it spends energy way too fast because it takes energy to rush the slide in tight pieces, so I practiced getting them down to a 28 and tried for that as a base rate, but when they lose rate, they lose pressure too. Any tips?

the catches are pretty terrible.
lots of yelling, not much passing.
cox, if you yell the same shit for 15 minutes, no one's listening. started out good, ended?...meh.
One thing we did on the Jr. National team in a boat that just couldn't maintain ratings above 32 and still get run was to do 30sec-1min pieces at extreme ratings to bring the boat out of their comfort zone. Each piece was higher than the last, going through the 40's up to "whatever we could get" on the last one. Trying to get work done at those rates somehow got the boat to work better at normal ones afterwards. I was skeptic until I saw it work. Try it and tell me how it goes. Other tips later.
