Woodruff rails at Todd Akin's attacks on Social Security

Barbara Woodruff, just retired and waiting for her first Social Security check, fears that she may not be able to pay her rent because Republicans are trying to extort the government into cutting Social Security and Medicare by holding prisoner the permission to raise the debt ceiling.

Maam, First none of the budgets introduced would affect any of the benefits on Social Security for those 55 and older and your social security benefits are secure because as you said, you just retired. Second, under the current debt crisis it is actually the executive branch (The President) who decides if social security checks will be sent over other programs. Third, why were you so ill-prepared for retirement that you now require social security to pay the bills. Sounds like you didn't plan.
