Feature of Mino Washi (Japanese Paper)
Mino Washi dates back nearly 13 centuries, and was used for the oldest
important documents in existence. While water is critical in traditional washi production, Mino Washi owes much to the clear river water in Gifu Pref. Mino Washi, carefully handmade from fibers of kozo(paper mulberry), boasts the thinness and toughness which can be ranked in the highest quality in Japan.
Isamu Noguchi, a prominent Japanese American artist of the 20th
century, was also enchanted by the beuty of Mino Washi and introduced the "Akari" light culpture series.
