  • Yes, I have read many posts about the cooling issue. I usually start the part with a heat gun pointed in the general direction of the part, but I don't keep it there because my arm gets tired. We'll see how the MakerGear heated platform works when it's released! For now, I will print a heat gun tripod holder to keep the workspace warm. :)

  • Most people who have tried to print the larger pieces for Mendel have had problems with the raft lifting and layer separation. It's due to the lower layers cooling down as the print progresses, you should check out some of the cool solutions people are coming up with to get around it.

  • @RepRapLogPhase Thanks! Too bad in the end, the part failed. It got 1/2 of the way through when I realized that the lower right corner of the raft had lifted early on, and the corner of the part was curved upward. But the partial part still looks cool! I'm going to try again once I fix my build platform.

  • Congratulations!
