This song, also known as "Away, You Santee," "Wayess Annie," and "Can't You Dance The Polka?" is a traditional American Irish music hall number included recently in the sound track of Martin Scorsese's "Gangs of New York."
The Chilly Winds perform Burl Ives' classic arrangement that the Kingston Trio included in their first live performance album nearly fifty years ago. Dave Batti provides his usual driving tempo on the bass.

  • We of the Chilly Winds are delighted to have our friends The Dustmen performing their own "New York Girls" as a video response above - just click on docqwho above for a great version of the song!

  • haha i heard this song in new york girls by Finbarr Furey but a few days ago I got some kingston trio album they are great!

  • Hey Daragh - I just found out on another site that the Fureys were the ones who did this song in the movie "Gangs of New York." The voices sounded familiar but I couldn't place them. The Fureys do a great job, like the KT! Love your recent Clancy uploads!
