The Honolulu Nonviolent Communication Practice Group presents Mary Mackenzie and Christa Morf, certified NVC trainers in a workshop on the "Intention to Connect." Here is an explanation of what "Intention" is, as originally provided by Robert Gonzales.

"A decision, unconscious or conscious, that moves us in the direction of an outcome. A force in the universe, that we do something to consciously participate in. We have the capacity to direct the intention."

So when you are going around and around in that argument, try to "wake up" and discover what your intention is. Is it to be "right" or is it to "connect?" Without connection, a satisfying resolution for both parties is unlikely.
