This is the eleventh training video in a series of screencasts that are intended to supplement the "Learn about Windows Basics" topic in the Windows 7 Help and Support application. This screencast addresses file management skills such as:

How do I move files?
How do I copy files?

This may not be a long list, but they are some of the most challenging tasks for new computer users. In fact, many people who have used Windows for many years struggle with basic file management because for whatever reason they just never learned it well. We provide a few methods in this screencast to help you with file management.

This screencast by Ron Grove of Evanoah I/T Services is designed to be viewed at http://www.rongrove.com/Article/ViewArticle/17/part-11---windows-7-move-and-c...

  • @I3OUND - So you have room on the other drives, but dont' know how to move the files there to free up disk space on drive c: ?

  • You could use numbers to get them in order. First one would be 01someshow.mp3. Next would be 02someshow.mp3. Obviously not as easy as if you can just drag them to the right order, but I've done this for years and it works no matter what the operating system.

  • I know this seems off topic but, i have partion drives. I'm only able to use my OS and i'm running out of space, i wan'ted to move my music folders to my other drive and don't know how

  • Windows XP was far easier to copy and move files than Windows 7. You'd simply highlight the file and select "move file" from the menu and specify WHERE you want to put it.

  • Hi, how can I rearrange my files within a folder? I download 1 hour radio show MP3s. In Vista I could drag and drop files so they will be in order on my MP3 player. Windows 7 will not let me rearrange the order of my files. I am very frustrated. I checked out some forums and it seems many people are upset that this function has been removed from Windows 7. Any suggestions? Thanks
