I can't believe this is the topic! We just read this story in The Republic in my Intellectual Traditions class and we're discussing how Socrates talks about what 'the good life' is. So I can totally relate.

I'm going to go watch the philosophers video but my take on the moral of the story is: To have a Good Life, you must first find the One Ring and then seduce and murder your way to success.

I think this story lost alot in translation. Unless that ring grants wishes, I dont see how invisibility can be that effective. Neat trick, but .... just sayin.
