By the way, William Tyndale was no "martyr for the bible". Case closed.

I dont know about you, but to me Christ's representative on Earth is more powerful and meaningful than any "king" or "queen". Which means all should be respectful of the Pope, even if you are not a catholic.
-
And William Tyndale's book, "The Obedience of a Christian man", should be burned! The fact is, weather that king or queen is catholic or not, still that king or queen or both should listen and obey the Pope because he is superior to them and is superior compared to them! What is a king? What is a queen? Just simple heads of state and "authority" figures. But the Pope is a head of state AND an authority figure AND Christ's representative on Earth!

Martin Luther was no hero or good martyr. He was and will always remain a heretic. And as far as the heretical "religion" Lutheranism goes, it is ridiculous. Lutherans believe in this man Martin Luther as though he did good! Luther did not do any good, he just caused a lot of uproars and trouble.

@mammal46 According to whom? Ask yourself this: who gains from dragging his name through the mud? Who did he attack with the truth he spoke? Who banned his books? Don't respond. I suspect I know why you would say such things. Don't believe what your "history books" say about him. Most of it is lies. He was a soldier of God and not this awful person you depict him to be.

@mammal46 The emperors edict also made it a crime for anyone in Germany to give Luther food or shelter, it permitted anyone to kill Luther without legal consequence. If that isnt "persecution" then I do not know what is. The Luther Bible was one of the single greatest influences on Tyndales English Bible which would be the precursor to the great "King James Bible". Luther risked his life for Biblical truth and was also suffered a poison attempt at the hands of some jews.
-
@mammal46 Luther certainly was persecuted which is why he spent his whole life fleeing, there were several attempts on his life but thankfully he was protected by Frederick III of Saxony. For you to say that Luther did not suffer persecution is absolutely nuts, it is a well known and verified fact of history that the final draft of the Emperors "Diet of Worms" declared Luther an outlaw, banned his literature and required his arrest, it stated that he must be apprehended and punished.

@mammal46 Luther burned people at the stake for reading the Bible if they were not a priest? Are you kidding me? That is a blatant lie, Luther was all for the reading of the Bible by the common folk which is the whole reason he had the Bible translated into the vernacular to begin with. There is no Tyndale without Luther.
-
Where are you getting your informaton from? Tyndale was himself influenced by Luther, Luther also believed in the priesthood of all believers, so the reading may have been distorted Also Luther used the printing press to spread copies of the venacular Bible.
William Tyndale's one of all-time hugest heroes of mine, thank you so much for this documentary series.

Luther was a arrogant murdering nicolatian he burned people at the stake for reading the Bible if they were not a priest. I don't care if he broke from the Catholic Church, he didn't go very far. Tyndale, and the ana baptists they were some heros. Luther died of old age fat and happy in his own mansion. He wasn't martyred nor did he suffer persecution.
