  • @scrambledpenis This movie was labeled by Lynch as "absurda", which is his telling us this movie isn't going to make any sense. I think he crossed the line here from other films that gave us something to work with. This movie really is pointless, although it does a great job of scaring the shit out of me at times.

  • @jakespick The point of art is NOT to not have a point. Yes, some art doesn't have to have a point, but the point of art is to free the creative mind and provide all sorts of stimulation to those who witness it.

  • "Damn, this sounds like dialogue from our script!"

The way Dern says that is slightly disturbing for some reason.

  • i love David Lynch, not enough films experiment outside of the box like this one does.

  • i understand this movie when i watch it,,,,but i cant explain it...do you feel the same way?

  • I want to diagree, however, I cannot. B/C the second time I watched it thourgh, the more sense it made.

  • @scrambledpenis I guess that is your opinion but this film never was meant to have a point... Its purely surrealistic.. There is no definitive point or purpose to surrealism.. It plays with the unconscious fears and desires...

  • this film is not supposed to have a point... It is purely surrealistic... not all films have to have a purpose... That is the beauty of art!

  • Lynch is just so good when it comes to creating that sort of nameless feeling of dissonant, nightmare-like horror. On the surface, there is very little "scary" about this scene, and yet it is truly unnerving and upsetting. This whole film is full of that sort of "horror." Truly brilliant.

  • @scrambledpenis it's an experiment with digital filmmaking, nothing more. it's a movie about images, sounds, colors, light, and movement. art doesn't have to have a point - that's the point of art. that's what makes it art. but I suppose I don't have to defend this movie to someone who used the word "retarded" to describe anything.
