  • My Triumph tiger clutch used to wobble like that when the plates and springs were out. If the thrust washer behind the clutch is missing, the clutch will slip. Mine didn't have the washer when I first purchased it.

The rollers only act when the clutch is operated.

  • I agree with BB12 the thrust washer at back of basket should be renewed if it's squished or the bimetal is worn away. One side was bronze one side steel on old real ones I think. The wobble should be more a jiggle and if it is excessive buy 25 new rollers, oversized if possible but not by much. Hard acceleration and mid speed to high speed long durations will also cut basket grooves as well as a lot of play when you pull in cable, the wear to hub is as said more related to the cush drive.

  • Once you put the clutch plates and springs in place the wobble goes away. The slop only occurs when you have the clutch disengaged. You may want to be sure you have a new ring bushing behind the basket, that will take some of the slop out.

A B50 clutch tends to drag some because of this slop. Spring adjustment, correct spring cups, correct springs are critical for B50 clutch, safety wire, too. If the cush drive rubbers are worn in hub, it will cause plate tab wear, more dragging.
