Poet, short story writer and novelist Ron Rash is the Parris Distinguished Professor in Appalachian Cultural Studies at Western Carolina University. His latest novel, Serena,
has been described by author Arthur Philips as "an Appalachian retelling of Macbeth, a thriller, a word-perfect evocation of an era and a people, a grim chapter in the history of conservation: if SERENA doesn't finally win Ron Rash the overdue attention of the national literary (and cinematic) establishments, I can't imagine what they're holding out for."

Here Rash reads from Serena at the joint meeting of the N.C. Literary and Historical Association and the Federation of N.C. Historical Societies on November 10, 2007 in Asheville, NC.

  • @shdog77 One Foot in Eden would make a great movie

  • They will eventually.

  • Ron Rash is finally getting the attention he deserves! Been a fan for a long time. I'm surprised Hollywood hasn't discovered Rash's compelling stories and unusual subjects. Thanks for posting this video.
