Second version of the familiar show opening. The first version featured a young Ron Sweed (later known as "The Ghoul") in gorilla costume, hanging on the WJW building cupola, a la King Kong.

  • I'm still trying to find out the sources of some of these instrumentals they used, mainly the Jimmy McGriff tune used here after Ray Charles "Here We Go Again." & it would be cool to find the instrumental backing to the "certain ethnic" skits-the sax waltz, the uptempo accordion...

  • @Larrymh07 I agree-only saw it 2x. Classic & hard to come by. It was before my time too, & the 1st time I heard the song was that skit & my Dad said that it was popular when he was dating my Mom. I heard the Platters version a few years later. (the H&BC version was someone else I found out seeing the 2nd time)

  • Oh wow! I remember watching them every week when I was a kid!

  • Does anyone have the skit where they lip synched to 'The Great Pretender' by The Platters? The song was way before my time, but that skit actually made me a fan of their music.

  • yardbirds at the palace.

  • I sure do miss the good old days.
