You are right Shawn was very humble and very laid back I was at this show as I was at most every show Shawn played in Memphis I was lucky enough to have known him and to have even have him give me guitar lessons at his home. My best memory of Shawn is Eric Johnson played at BB Kings in 1997 and Shawn walked in and sat at the table with me and some friends who were from out of town when they found out it was Shawn they freaked out. How cool is that to watch a Eric Johnson concert with Shawn Lane

Holy shit, his advice on going faster than you normally can play and cleaning it up afterward, I thought I was the only guy who thought that way and that I was weird for doing that. It definitely makes you play sloppy at first but as you gradually slow it down to the desired speed, it becomes a whole lot easier. Damn Shawn, you're a genius. You are missed. RIP

Your comment reeks of jealousy and hate. Go take that shit somewhere else, because no one wants it here.

I don't recall him claiming that he was. Shawn played a variety of styles, I don't think it is even possible to rightly compare him to either of those two.

Shawn is absolutely right, no matter how many times you play a melodic sequence or series of note progressions, if you play it slow continually, your mind gets a mental block on playing it slow. That's why it is so important to gradually increase in speed and then break off into a continuum, a speed that you can't play and just keep practicing different rhythmic groupings.
